Students & Alumni

Student & alumni resources

From your first orientation to your career as a practitioner, the college is a small community that looks after its own. Here’s what current students and graduates can count on.

Student Services

Support for current students

As a small college, we know every student by name — and we build support around the whole person, not just the coursework.

Orientation & community

Every student gets a Daoist Traditions email and campus mailbox, an orientation each semester, and a place in a close cohort — plus President’s Receptions and student organizations.

Tutoring & academic help

Free one-on-one peer tutoring for any course you’re finding tough, with private faculty tutoring available on request.

Health & wellness

Students are encouraged to receive treatments to stay healthy and ease the stress of study — at a discounted rate in our teaching clinic.

Practice & career prep

Courses in practice management and marketing, plus placement assistance — job listings and practice opportunities to launch your career.

Student government

The Student Government Association works to enhance the student experience — reach them anytime at sga@daoisttraditions.edu.

Student ID perks

Your student ID unlocks discounts around Asheville and online — small savings that add up over four years.

Accommodations: Daoist Traditions provides accommodations for students with disabilities (ADA / Section 504). To start the process or ask a question, contact Vice President Rachel Nowakowski at rnowakowski@daoisttraditions.edu. Request forms are on the consumer information & policies page.

The Library

A library for Chinese medicine

Open to students, alumni, and faculty, the library holds books, journals, periodicals, and audio-visual materials spanning Chinese medicine, cultivation practices, philosophy, biomedicine, herbal medicine, complementary modalities, and business and study skills — including the largest collection of Jeffrey Yuen course recordings in the United States.

  • Search the catalog online, or use the EBSCO research databases.
  • Enrolled MAHM and MAHM/DAHM students also receive borrowing privileges at UNC Asheville’s Ramsey Library.
  • Wireless internet, copy, and print services on site.
  • Need to renew an item, or want us to add a title? Just email the librarian.

Request a Transcript

Requesting your transcript

Students and alumni can request official transcripts from the Registrar. Please request them at least two weeks before you need them.

A few things to know: the first copy is free and each additional copy is $20 (the Registrar will invoice you if payment is due). Transcripts can’t be released to anyone with an outstanding financial obligation to the college, and are never released to a third party without your written consent. Certification-to-test requests through the NCBAHM portal are handled automatically — no separate transcript needed.

Career Opportunities

Jobs and practices for acupuncturists

We keep a running board of opportunities for licensed acupuncturists — associate and staff positions around the country, and established practices for sale — alongside ways to give back.

Job listings

Acupuncturist positions across North Carolina and beyond, updated regularly. Ask the office for the current openings.

Practices for sale

Established practices changing hands — a chance to step into a going concern rather than build from scratch.

Volunteer & service

Give back through organizations like Acupuncturists Without Borders and the Acupuncture Relief Project.

Have a position, practice sale, or office rental to share? Email a PDF with the details to rnowakowski@daoisttraditions.edu and we’ll add it to the board. Current listings are maintained by the college office — call 828.225.3993 for what’s open now.
