Our curriculum grew from the teachings of Jeffrey C. Yuen, an 88th-generation Daoist priest of the Jade Purity School. His transmission of Classical Chinese Medicine is woven through every program — and our library holds the largest collection of his course recordings in the United States.

Dr. Majebé co-founded Daoist Traditions in 2003 after nearly two decades running Asheville’s Chinese Acupuncture & Herbology Clinic — which she still leads today. With co-founder and Vice President Rachel Nowakowski, she has kept the college a small college by choice: a single-purpose institution where faculty know every student by name.

Eleven treatment rooms, meeting spaces, and an extensive herbal dispensary on South French Broad Avenue.
Over 100 medicinal plants students help cultivate from seed — hands-on contact with the medicine, from garden to dispensary.
Community Care
Our teaching clinic offers acupuncture and herbal medicine at $40 a visit — $30 for students, veterans, and children — with every treatment overseen by licensed clinical faculty. Each year our interns give more than 500 free treatments to the medically underserved.
